Last Thursday was the first year anniversary of United Filipino Airsoft Club-Gulf Airsoft Federation ( UFAC-GAF ).

The celebration was held in Palma Beach Resort in Umm Al Quwain. Members of different teams have joined the party as well as their friends and families. The night was filled with fun because of the "Battle of the Bands" which consists of 8 groups from 8 teams.

A plaque of appreciation was given to UFAC's Chairman Ramses a.k.a Cuervo for all the effort he had given to make this club successful. Because of him, airsoft in Dubai has now a legal place to play at. Of course, thanks to all of us members!

Aim, shoot and have fun! Hoorah!!!

The first ever Philippine property show in Dubai will be held on September 26 & 27 2008 at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai.

Our fellow Overseas Filipino Workers or OFW's, investors and residents of UAE who are planning to invest in the emerging markets in Asia like Philippines can now have a chance to attend a free investment seminars and project presentations.

This is definitely the best time to buy a residential condominium or a house and lot in the country while prices are still relatively lower compared to other Asian countries. Unlike other markets, the growth in Philippines real estate industry is driven by realistic demand from commercial and residential end-users and not by speculators. Such is a stable investment climate that attracts long-term investors from other countries. Filipinos are resilient investors who do not easily withdraw their investments in case of regional and global crisis.

Got this message on my email which was sent to me by a colleague. Originally it was from a lady named pinkdxbchampange. Just thought of sharing it. So here it goes…

Over a thousand Filipinos arrive in Dubai every month. And why not?

Literally, the sun shines here all year round; prosperity is in the air; and it's a place where people have reasons to dream of waking up in the morning as millionaires or with kilos of gold on their lap!

Yun nga lang, habang hindi pa nangyayari yun, iba ang nakikita ng maraming Pinoy pagdilat nila sa umaga — kurtina! Sideways…sidesteps  Hindi yan dance step. That's the latest move ngayon sa mga sharing flats. Sa sobrang liit ng space, patagilid ang galaw. Kaya minsan, mga ka-flatmates, hindi na magkakitaan. "Hoy, where have you been, ba? Hindi ka na umuuwi sa flat!" Kasi nga lagi silang naka-sideview!

It was announced last week that July 31 is a holiday for public and private sector here in Dubai to mark Isra Wal Meeraj or Night Journey to Heaven

The Isra Wal Miraj recalls the night the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings be upon Him) was sleeping near the Ka’bah in Makkah, when the Angel Jibreel (Gabriel) came to him, woke him up, and taking him by the arm, led him to Al-Buraq, a beast resembling a horse with two huge wings springing from its back. From Makkah, Al-Buraq took off toward Jerusalem. There, the Prophet was met by all the other prophets. He (Peace and Blessings be upon Him) dismounted, tethered AlBuraq to a ring in the gate of Jerusalem, and led them in Prayers.

While I was searching the net for the start and end of ramadan this year to know when will the Eid-Al-Fitr ( for my flight booking ), I found out that there there is a holiday end of July. So I looked for our company handbook and there I found that there is really a holiday.

Residents of Dubai will have a long weekend. Don't forget to look for the partial solar eclipse this coming Friday at around 2 p.m.

Photographers prepare your cameras!

Yesterday, I got in touched with my friend Jong who is a travel agent to arrange my flight booking for my vacation this coming September and he told me that he has been in the Dubai Naturalization and Residency Department or DNRD for the past few days because of the new Dubai visa rule.

It has been reported few days back that the preparations for implementing the Council of Ministers’ Decision No. 16 for the year 2008 and the Ministerial Decision No. 322 for the year 2008 regarding amendments to certain provisions of the law of entry and residence of foreigners. They said that the new rule will be effective from next week July 29.

Under the present rule, I can come to Dubai on a visit visa and stay here for 2 months. After the visa expires, we then leave the country and travel to Kish island in Iran, Oman a neighboring country and then come back with the new applied visit visa which is again valid for 2 months. This is called visa run. I have been in this situation for several months…

Next week,  visit visa holder will only be allow to enter the UAE once within two months from the date of issue of the visa.

Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has legalized car pooling by launching website Sharekni  "a share your car service."

The move aims to give people a way to legally car-pool in Dubai and encourages motorists to share rides and cut traffic congestion.

Here is what the RTA says about car pooling:

Dubai public transportation is getting worst each day in Dubai. If you don't have your own car, waiting for Dubai taxi or Dubai bus will really make your day in a bad mood.

Last May, I started my driving lessons at Dubai Driving Centre. Usually it will take you after a month to start your classes and couple more months or even a year to finish it but in my case, my classes started the day after I opened my file, they have the normal classes and the VIP classes. Obviously I have taken the VIP classes so I can  get my driving license as early as possible ( I'm fed up from waiting for 1-2 hours for taxi).
